Anthony Mackie could have play a very dissimilar character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe ; one that was far from the Cuban sandwich that is Sam Wilson aka Falcon . The MCU family gets cock-a-hoop and big with each film , and even though some actors have only appear once ( mostly those who played villain ) , they will always be part of the mob . Mackie ’s theatrical role in this existence could have been one of those , have things lead according to his original program .
Mackie has been part of the MCU for five class now , debut inCaptain America : The Winter Soldieras Sam Wilson / Falcon , a former pararescueman who has a specially designed flank plurality and squad up with Captain America and Black Widow to stop the Winter Soldier . But his introduction to the Marvel Universe could have been a very different one , as he try out to play The Mandarin inIron human being 3 .

According toMen ’s Health(viaCBR ) , Mackie ’s original audition was for the “ nefarious ” role of The Mandarin , who we met inIron Man 3 . The character finally went to Ben Kingsley , but Mackie ’s screen mental testing caught the attention of Anthony and Joe Russo as well as producer Nate Moore , go him to the function of Falcon . In the terminal , things ( arguably ) turn out for the good .

The persona of The Mandarin was destine for controversy , no matter who played him , but in the end everything worked in Mackie ’s favor . He not only became an Avenger and played an important role in the narrative of Steve Rogers , but he is also getting a TV series and inherited the mantle of Captain America . Things puzzle out out much better than if he had made his MCU debut inIron Man 3 , in that respect .
