Now , 10 years later , he is pass to Deadwood as the Ithiel Town has become an prescribed part of South Dakota . He has also up his power even more since 2006   and presently work as a senator . It ’s his reaching and the   town ’s linger resentment   that dish out as the catalyst for the movie ’s subsequent conflict .

Calamity Jane

Since we last see Jane , she was in the beginning of a romanticistic relationship with Joanie . Now , when we see her inDeadwood : The Movie , it ’s clear   she had moved on and started go the world , only repay now to celebrate the township ’s statehood . Now with the moniker " Calamity " in front of her name , it appears that she has changed , though in some shipway she still fall victim to the same vices , such as drinking .

In a moment later on in the movie , Jane suddenly notices a character about to aggress Bullock , and she steps in to save up him . As she remarks later , she claims that it was as if Wild Bill had taken over her and prompted her to action . Joanie , standing next to her , says something even more poignant in response : " No Jane , that was you . " It ’s at this moment that Jane really has become the Old West legend .

Charlie Utter Refuses to Sell

One of the additional reason George Hearst   coming back to town is to acquire more land for his personal use . Charlie Utter , who continue   in Deadwood for all these years , is presently the possessor and wheeler dealer of that land . When George Hearst offers to grease one’s palms it , and in a clearly villainous way , Charlie pridefully refuses .   Along with   remembering Hearst ’s history with the town ,   Charlie realizes that he can not give up what he had worked so hard to work up .

What this leads to is , very , unfortunately , Charlie ’s slaying by Hearst ’s Man . Though he did n’t necessarily see it coming , it ’s well-defined that Charlie must ’ve known something may pass off in reaction to his refusal to sell the land . The fact that he still turn away in the face of this impending threat make his choice that much more impactful .

Marshall Bullock’s Shootout

Since we last saw Bullock , he had been upgrade from Sheriff to Marshall   while also operating a hotel . His family line has also grown , with him and his married woman Martha now having three kids to call their own . When he discovers what happens to Charlie , though , he ca n’t tread down , demand justice for the murder . He does this   despite   realizing he has a lot more to lose than before .

This lead to   a climactic gunplay between Bullock - punt by Sol Star , Dan Dority , and Johnny Burns - versus George Hearst ’s men . The shootout is swift and trigger-happy , with some shocking deaths . For a show that mostly focuses on play instead of gunfights , it ’s a delightful change of pace . It madeDeadwood : The Moviemore of an adrenaline - pump experience than its predecessor , and it ’s all the better for it . It also helps that the characters involved are all ones that we have come to be intimate and   passion .

Sol Star and Trixie’s Wedding

In theDeadwoodshow , one of the more unlikely yet ultimately fitting relationships was the one between Sol Star and Trixie , who had antecedently worked as a promontory prostitute under the brutal Al Swearengen . Trixie had begin to establish   herself during the   show ’s campaign , but it appear that now she has fully step out from under Al ’s shadow .

Now , inDeadwood : The Movie , Trixie   not only has a kid with Sol , but they decided to get get married . Fittingly , it ’s Al that gives her away . It ’s a tender and deserved minute , given the maturation of Trixie throughout the show , and it ’s follow by a lively wedding celebration . Towards the end of the movie , Al even gifts his saloon to Trixie . It appear in this moment that she has finally number full rotary , returning to her original place of employment , but now go forth as her own firm give woman .

E.B. Farnum Helps Out

It was one of the show ’s long - standing trend : that everyone hated the worthless weasel known as E.B. Farnum . Yet , towards the end of the show ’s third season , it appear that he was at last more sympathetic , looking out for others besides himself . Now , as we see him inDeadwood : The Movie , Farnum has mince up even more .

In one mo , Farnum overhears Hearst and his men , who are diagram to kill the only potential looker of the shooting of Charlie Utter , that of Samuel Fields , who was fishing in the river where Charlie was found . Without hesitancy , Farnum rushes over to Bullock , tell him what Hearst ’s men are plotting . He subsequently gives Bullock enough time to cease the men from killing Fields . The old Farnum would never have trouble assay to save another life . He   has made so much progress over the course of the series .

Alma’s Winning Bid

After Charlie Utter is down , we see an auction sale for Charlie ’s land . Hearst is here , of track , as this was the intellect he had Charlie kill in the first stead . The bidding begins , and the main bidder are Hearst and Bullock , who will not let Hearst prevail his prize that well . It ’s Hearst , though , who has almost unlimited monetary resource at his disposal .

As the two men bring up each other higher and higher , another bid ultimately wins . And the succeeder is someone unexpected : Alma Ellsworth . When we saw her at the end ofDeadwoodseason 3 , Alma had lose about everything near and dear to her ; her husband , her amber claim , and her dignity , all at the hands of George Hearst . Now , beating him at his own plot , she not only honors Charlie Utter , but she has also bring home the bacon the power back that had been take from her . It ’s a triumphant moment that onlyDeadwoodcould really bring us .

The Town Turns Against Hearst

George Hearst had emerged from Deadwood ten years ago as an absolute achiever , having turn everyone on the town to his will . He did n’t care that these actions left a trail of bodies in his wake , of which he had never   faced any rebound . Now , though , after his red to Alma in the bid for Charlie ’s country , he has been taken down a mountain pass . Then , when Marshall Bullock pick up him on suspicion of Charlie ’s murder , he has now been humiliated as well .

This head to one of the darker moments of the movie . Hearst is rip from Bullock ’s custody and is then drum like a heel in the street by the townspeople of Deadwood , in unmortgaged cattiness   of his actions . Bullock give a moment ’s hesitation before at long last stop the townsfolk from wind up the human action . But the moment continue pregnant   all the same , and the message is decipherable : Hearst had finally lose .

Bullock Returns Home

Despite being   the moral compass of Deadwood , Marshall Bullock sometimes lets his temper get the dear of him . It was his giving flaw , and it ultimately led to some detrition between him and the other graphic symbol . ThroughoutDeadwood : The Movie , he realizes that , with his family in judgment , he has something to live for , even if he ca n’t let Charlie Utter ’s end go unnoticed .

When Bullock does the right thing by not let Hearst be killed in the street , he return home to his married woman and kids . He had revenge Charlie ’s demise   while not going too far . Embracing Martha on their doorstep , he ultimately declare " I ’m home . " If ever there was a character that merit a felicitous ending , it was Seth Bullock .   We ’re grateful thatDeadwood : The Moviegave us this touching farewell to one of the show ’s most beloved characters .

Al’s Final Words

Along with walk into the sundown and lovesome farewell , Deadwood : The Moviealso waved good day to what is easily the standout part of the show : Al Swearengen . When we first see him at the jump of the pic , it come along that Al ’s natural action had last caught up to him . Due also to extensive drunkenness over the old age , it appear that Al has proceed into cirrhosis of the liver , and he only has a lilliputian while result .

In his last moments , though , Al does his reputation a service . He gives his pothouse to Trixie , splits his fortune amongst his patriotic proletarian , and wave good day to Bullock and Sol Star ,   before finally accepting his meter has come . Trixie , holding him , starts to declaim the Lord ’s Prayer . When she says " Our Father , Who fine art in Heaven , " Al suppose his last words : " rent him stay there . " Al knows he wo n’t be proceed anywhere nice and recognizes his preceding life of sin . Al always last his liveliness the way he   wish and also plump out on his own terms . We could n’t cerebrate of a more fitting end .
