When we first encounter Tim , he ’s being drag in on a Pokémon - catching jaunt with his admirer . We see flocks of Spearow and other wildPokémon , include his prize , a Cubone , but what do wenotsee ? A herd of wild Ponyta , extend through creeks , their flame head of hair crepitation in the wind .
There are other juncture when they could have appear ; Tim takes the gear to Ryme City and pass fields and orchards , why not some barns full of Ponyta ? Or perhaps a better question is why were there no mounted Ponyta constabulary in Ryme City ?

This is all well and good , except that when the Greninja appear again to hassle Tim , Lucy Stevens , and her Psyduck , the flak Psyduck do should have no burden on them ( considering their specific abilities ) . The picture would have been much more compelling with a Houndoom or ten chomping at their dog .
WISH WERE: HOUNDOOM
There ’s a point roughly halfway through the film when Tim , Detective Pikachu , Lucy Stevens , and Psyduck are infiltrating a secluded research lab Tim palpate was an important placement in his father ’s case . It has security cameras and some form of alarm system , but how much cool would it have been if there were packs of Houndoom police the area ?
Or what if they had to face a Houndoom that had Mega Evolved into a Mega Houndoom before they could even gain access to sure percentage of the laboratory ? There were so many strategical opportunities to summate a great Dark Pokémon to the tilt of cameos , and yet they included evil confederate like some Greninja .
