Fans were so wowed by the first movie in theFantastic Beasts and Where to Find Themseries that they pretty much expected the second cinema to fail to live up to the first . It ’s difficult for sequels to measure up , and whileThe Crimes of Grindelwalddefinitely had its magical moments ( and some of the picture provided us with the solution we so desperately seek ) , it still miss in other area .
One of these areas was closure , regarding not just open questions pull up stakes from the first motion picture but the history of theHarry Potterfranchise itself . Hopefully the next film will shed more igniter on these questions .
Closure: Dumbledore Sent Newt On The Mission
We marvel how Newt Scamander might factor out into a movie likeThe Crimes of Grindelwald . It did n’t make much sense to hang on that taradiddle onto one about wondrous beasts , but now that we be intimate Dumbledore had originally sent Newt on his missionary station , we have some closure .
Does it make sense that Dumbledore would send Newt over to fight Grindelwald blindly , without any extra entropy to serve him ? Not in reality , between two people who care about one another . With Dumbledore , though , who is famous for leading younger adept into peril without telling them beforehand ? Yes , we can definitely consider this .
Question: Dumbledore’s Blood Pact
What is a Blood Pact ? Why would you use it instead of an Unbreakable Vow , and why are we just now learning about it ? J.K. Rowling is barren to introduce raw magical concepts at any time , of course of study , but we ca n’t help oneself but wonder why she could n’t have just stuck with the same vow Severus Snape made . It would get in touch the motion-picture show better and make more good sense .
This vow also might help explain why Dumbledore had n’t yet acted against Grindelwald , but it raises questions about the past and the future . When could he have possibly made this vow ( since the last time he saw Grindelwald he ’d actually fought against him and his sister had suffered the consequences ) ? And since he ’d already been through all of this benighted champion nonsense before , why did n’t he behave against Voldemort much sooner , when the Horcrux - happy baddie was younger and easygoing to defeat ?
Closure: Credence Survived
Witnessing the violence in Credence Barebone ’s lifetime ( or Aurelius Dumbledore ’s life , if you believe Grindelwald ’s revealing ) left us reeling in the first celluloid . Beaten , abandoned , tricked and about taken out , it for certain appeared as if Credence were demolish by the end of the movie . Even though he used his own powers for terrible violence , he almost could n’t help it without the proper training .
Discovering that Credence had not only survived , but that he had even find beloved with Nagini ( the Maledictus who finally becomes a Horcrux for Voldemort ) , gave us both Leslie Townes Hope and apprehensiveness : it was nice to see him glad with someone , but we all bonk the fate of his lover .
Questions: Credence Is A Dumbledore
This was one of the most volatile moments in the film , and we are still wondering if Grindelwald was simply consist to Credence in lodge to pull in his confidence . He would have to surrender a whopper after being so scurrilous toward the Obscurial , so it might unfeignedly be a lie … but what about Fawkes , the phoenix ?
This Revelation of Saint John the Divine has left us with many more doubtfulness than answers . Does Dumbledore unfeignedly not have it off that Credence is relate to him , or is that why he place Newt to America in the first place ? This is one of the biggest result we need from the next motion-picture show .
Closure: Leta Lestrange Is Newt’s Sister-In-Law-To-Be
Even with Queenie prying in the firstFantastic Beastsfilm , we still wonder who Leta Lestrange really is to Newt . accord to Queenie , who said Leta was a taker when Newt needed a giver ( only to test herself to be a taker in the sequel ) , it sounded as if she might have been an old flame . We observe , however , that not only were the two admirer at Hogwarts ( as fellow misfits ) but that she is meshed to marry Newt ’s brother , Theseus Scamander .
It ’s clear that there ’s already tension between Newt the critter - loving lawbreaker and his Head Auror brother , but they obviously have even more with Leta between them .
Question: Leta Was Taken Out
What was the stage of introducing Leta Lestrange to us if she was only go to be destroy by Grindelwald in the same picture show ? Just to dish as a parallel witch feel guilty about her sib ’s death to mirror Dumbledore ? She raised more questions than she answered .
We still do n’t cognise which buddy she was professing her love to as she was taken out , and as a Lestrange it was rather anticlimactical . Why did she opt Theseus over Newt ? Not only were we not yet attached to her ( and therefore unable to be as impacted as we might be while losing someone we ’d previously met in the first film ) , but we even question her position as a Lestrange given the scrappy class history .
Closure: Jacob Remembers
At the end of the first film , after Jacob ’s memories have been pass over , we are sadden to see him leave the magical world behind . It ’s simply not fair . When he earn pastries in the shape of fantastical wildcat , however , we wonder whether or not he remembers . Does he dream about them ? He tells client that they just come to him , but in the 2nd film we ’re given the closure we need . He remembers all of his happy memories .
This does n’t make a circle of sensory faculty in several ways , but we will take it for the sake of expedience . Still , we have to wonder if Queenie had a hired hand in restoring some memory , especially since she ’s so out of character in this movie .
Question: Queenie Goldstein Was Easily Swayed
As a Legilimens , Queenie Goldstein can translate what most people are thinking , even when she does n’t mean to . The thoughts around her in Europe are so tacky that she ca n’t even stand it . So , why does she precipitate for Grindelwald ’s suave talking and join him ? Even if we argue that Grindelwald is endow with Occlumency , his followers ca n’t all be , and she should have check his awful program in any number of their minds .
We also still do n’t sympathize why Queenie would subjugate someone she claims to adore to a erotic love potion , coercing him into marriage . This is so sickeningly toxic it makes us not require them to be together anymore .
Closure: Dumbledore Was In Love With Grindelwald
It ’s not mediocre to say that the flick really cave in us closure regarding Dumbledore ’s flavor for his erstwhile friend . While seeing Grindelwald in the Mirror of Erised is enough for many fans to agree that he longs for him as a partner and not a supporter , it still was n’t as clear as it should have been made .
Luckily , it wasJ.K. Rowlingwho eventually gave fans closing in aFantastic brute : The criminal offence of GrindelwaldBlu - beam of light feature , in which she admitted that the two shared a passionate romantic kinship . Many fans found her words to be a bit of a cop - out:“I’m less concerned in the intimate side — though I think there is a sexual dimension to this relationship — than I am in the mother wit of the emotions they felt for each other , which finally is the most fascinating thing about all human relationships,“she suppose .
Question: Why Is Tina Not The Master Of The Elder Wand?
guess about the true master of the Elder Wand is running rearing after the wand did not fall into the work force of Tina Goldstein , who antecedently demilitarize its supposed master in the firstFantastic Beastsmovie . fit in to J.K. Rowling ’s establish rules , this act should have made Tina its true proprietor . This did n’t come up at all in the subsequence , however , prompting fans to enquire just what happened .
Was the wand in Grindelwald ’s hired man at that moment not the Elder Wand ? Or was he not the wand ’s headmaster at the time ? If so , we need clearing on the timeline or the rules of the Elder Wand here .
