As is the case in the Muggle human race , there are merely item that make us question the reason behind them . Maybe it ’s human nature to create and fabricate thing that we do n’t need . Who knows ? What we do know is that there ’s a solid list to be made of the most useless trance and items from the humankind ofHarry Potter .
Spell-Checking Quill
A turn - check quill pen sound tremendous , does n’t it ? However , we know that this quill is n’t as in force as one would go for . Ron learned the hard way that when the magic runs out of this shaft , it ’ll change word that were spelled right into ugly misspelled intelligence and public figure .
If you ’re somebody like Ron , odds are that you ’re not snuff it to notice the spell give out until it ’s too late . Not exactly the sort of trouble you want to be dealing with while prepping for final .

The one major employment for this item would be the fact that pupil would be allow to use it outside of Hogwarts ( we ’re assuming since it is n’t a piece or wand work ) . In almost any other instance it would be best to do a right mend of an point .

So , this tour may or may not actually exist . That mostly depend on how much you trust the Quibbler . Neville proved how ineffectual this item is , though he clearly revalue the gift . Those who are observant will know that Neville seemed to be forgetting his school robe . Still , it ’s not always that obvious .
Lacarnum Inflamari
The globe ofHarry Potteris full of very specific spell . It would n’t be fair to include all of them on this list , but we ’re going to admit a few . For instance , the spell Hermione used to alight Snape ’s cloak on fire duringHarry Potter and the Sorcerer ’s Stone .
The magic spell Hermione used was Larcarnum Inflamari . Which about translates to ‘ lay out on fervor ’ and ‘ cloak . ’ Seems a fiddling … specific , does n’t it ? How many times would one need to set a cloak on flack ? Is it something Hermione has want in the past times , or will ever need again ? There ’s believably a reason why this spell does n’t incisively exist in Rowling ’s canon .
Mobiliarbus
While we ’re on the subject of very specific spells , let ’s traverse another one that Hermione used . DuringHarry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban , Harry and crew were in the Three Broomsticks when a bunch of the prof arrived . Not wanting to be seen , Hermione moved a Christmas tree to lug them from view .
The go Hermione used was Mobiliarbus . Mobilis is Latin for " transportable , " and arbor means " Sir Herbert Beerbohm Tree . " A little specific , is n’t it ? hag and wizards really do have spells for all social function .
Homenum Revelio
Homenum Revelio is one of those spells that in reality voice quite utilitarian at first . The design of the charm is to discover all humans in the good vicinity . The job lies in what it does n’t detect . As in , anything and everything that is n’t human .
Since this is the world ofHarry Potter … there are quite a mass of dangerous non - human creatures lurking around . So , it seems rather silly to not have a spell that would or else reveal anything living ( and potentially dangerous ) within a certain range .

There is no practical use for this spell that we can retrieve of . Though it would be very effective at get under one’s skin the caster into fights , or detention . For what that ’s worth .
Peskipiksi Pesternomi
So , admittedly , we never in reality see this piece used properly … but that may be part of the problem . Lockhart uses Peskipiski Pesternomi duringHarry Potter and the Chamber of Secretsin an effort to guard off a drove of pesky pixies . It has absolutely no gist .
This could be because Lockhart is incompetent , or it could be because the spell itself is useless . After all , Hermione practice a entirely different spell to deal with the pixie . Was he sample to impress the students with a dramatic spell of his own invention ? Quite possibly . That sounds very Lockhart , after all .
