Writer Jason Aaron took over the Thor franchise back in 2012 , and for the last seven years his on-going story has been building to a head . This class ’s Marvel Comics event , " War of the Realms , " is the climax of everything Aaron has been doing all along .
Jane Foster has been a major part of Aaron ’s streamlet . Under Aaron ’s pen , Jane was transmute from a subaltern character into a serial jumper lead when she proved herself suitable to exert Mjolnir . Jane Foster understood that the cosmos needs a Thor , and she was willing to pay a heavy price to meet that motive ; Jane had been diagnosed with genus Cancer , and regrettably the transformation into Thor rescind any positive effects from her chemotherapy . But that did n’t stop her , not least when the Mangog attacked and destroyed Immortal Asgard . She transformed into Thor one last time in fiat to get the better of the Mangog , a victory that led tothe destruction of Mjolnir , and scantily survived thanks to Odin ’s intervention .

Jane ’s chemotherapy has been successful , and there ’s no longer a touch of cancer in her organisation . As such , asWar of the Realms#2 uncover , when Malekith and his forcefulness invade Earth Jane is peachy to take to the front lines . She strikes a crucial blast against the leader of the Dark Elves , strike down his War Witches and giving Doctor Strange a chance to teleport the Avengers to safe so they can reorganise and plunge a parry - attack . With Odin exhausted and in motive of the Odinsleep , Freyja considers a desperate self-annihilation charge in ordering to deliver Thor from Jotunheim . She can not entrust the Asgardian refugees without a leader - and so she names Jane Foster All - Mother of Asgard in her place .
